Pastoral Care

In 1998 a Pastoral Care Scheme was developed: at present over
30 people are involved in its work. The care offered varies according to need,
and is facilitated by our Parish Worker.
- Eucharist Assistants take the Blessed Sacrament from the Sunday Parish
Eucharist, to both individuals, and residents in nearby nursing and
residential homes. Non-eucharistic services are also conducted, and other
alternative forms of outreach are offered.
- The lonely, infirm and housebound are visited regularly.
- Christmas Day luncheon is served in the Parish Centre for those who would
otherwise be on their own.
- An annual pastoral New Year party with entertainment is held for residents
from nearby nursing homes and afternoon teas and fellowship are provided on a
regular basis for social gatherings of up to 25 people.
In all of this there is abundant evidence that the Holy Spirit is renewing
a church in its desire to serve and, in the words of St. Paul, "there is
a confidence that God who began this good work will see it brought to completion"
(Phil 1:6)
