Pastoral Care and Mission to the Local Community

In 1998 a Pastoral Care Scheme was developed: at present over 30 people are involved in its work. The care offered varies according to need, and is facilitated by our Parish Worker.
  1. Eucharist Assistants take the Blessed Sacrament from the Sunday Parish Eucharist, to both individuals, and residents in nearby nursing and residential homes. Non-eucharistic services are also conducted, and other alternative forms of outreach are offered.

  2. The lonely, infirm and housebound are visited regularly.

  3. Christmas Day luncheon is served in the Parish Centre for those who would otherwise be on their own.

  4. An annual pastoral New Year party with entertainment is held for residents from nearby nursing homes and afternoon teas and fellowship are provided on a regular basis for social gatherings of up to 25 people.

In all of this there is abundant evidence that the Holy Spirit is renewing a church in its desire to serve and, in the words of St. Paul, "there is a confidence that God who began this good work will see it brought to completion" (Phil 1:6)
