Parish Renewal: A Collaborative CommunityIn March 1998 over 100 people from St. Matthew's attended a Parish Renewal Day to explore community life together under three headings: Vision, Liturgy, Mission. The theological foundation for all that has evolved must be seen in the integration of the sacraments of initiation (baptism - confirmation - eucharist) into the fundamental structure of church life. This means that all the baptised, not just the ordained, are called to be, in the words of St. Paul, "co-workers". In face, the very life of the church consists in "co-work". Its prayer life finds its highest expression in the liturgy which is now truly participatory. Those elected to the PCC have a real responsibility for the decisions taken, working collaboratively with the Ministry Team of ordained and non-ordained colleagues.Working together with a common purpose in mind as expressed in our mission statement, we seek to develop an attitude of respectful and attentive listening in order to encourage people to accept fully their own worth and share their gifts for the benefit of all. |
