Holy Cross' 70th Anniversary!
As part of our 70th Anniversary celebrations we held a week of activities followed by an afternoon fete and musical evening.
Sean perfecting his wicket keeping skills at the Crazy Putting Competition
And the winners are: Dot (centre) with a tie for second between Reg (left) and Sean (right)
The crazy putting competition proved to be more difficult that it first appeared. Mainly due to the fact that
it was held in the nave which had a distinct camber to it,
which foiled most of the contestants. The high score of
the evening was down to Dot with a score of 2 holes in 1.
Marion tried to explain the finer points of the beetle drive competition
Justin brought his beetle mascot along for luck!
The beetle drive evening was very popular with a frenzy of dice throwing. From outside the church
the clatter of activities could have been mistaken for a typing pool night shift.

In case his new Diocese needed his practical skills we provided him with transport. "Cleophas Lunga - builder
and decorator. Church & roof repairs a speciality".
He was also presented with a number of gifts when he celebrated our Eucharist the following
day at Holy Cross.
Knitted Toys for Operation Christmas Child
The Holy Cross Church knitters and their friends had been busy
There were no shortage of volunteers to demo the toys
1st Saturday of the month - must be Holy Cross Church coffee morning
At our October Coffee Morning we presented Darren Lloyd with knitted toys for
Operation Christmas Child.
Darren (from A J Lloyd Funeral Directors) kindly agreed to come and pick them up, as their firm is one of
the collection points for the scheme that sends shoeboxes of presents to children who normally would not
receive anything at Christmas. This year the shoeboxes will be sent to Liberia.
