Summer Outing to Kelmarsh Hall
"Recreating the Eighteenth Century Country House: The Hanbury Family and Kelmarsh Hall"
Rosie MacArthur (University of Northampton)
Built in the 1730s to the designs of the celebrated architect James Gibbs, Kelmarsh Hall is one of central England's foremost Palladian mansions. Rosie Macarthur, who is writing a doctoral thesis on material culture and consumption at Kelmarsh, c.1687-1845, will give a talk about the estate, to be followed by a guided tour of the Hall exclusive to members and their guests. Cost £6 per person. Light refreshments available separately. Please arrive by 6.45 pm for a 7pm start. Download a booking form and further information (pdf, 236Kb).
